Wheaten Ameraucana

Wheaten Ameraucanas are our true blue layers. A bit smaller than our other breeds, they are adorable birds with faces surrounded by fluffy beards and muffs. They are hardy birds with a small pea comb and nonexistent wattles…all of which make them good for withstanding our cold winters.

Ameraucanas are predator savvy birds that like to be outside. They are quieter than some other breeds, which is handy if you have close neighbors!

As well as being ridiculously cute, we find them to be incredibly social and true pets. Both hens and roosters are very docile, cuddly and sweet.

Ameraucana hens are a bit slow to lay compared to some other breeds, but the wait is worth it….once they start laying, you will see 3-4 gorgeous sky blue eggs a week.

An important part of our Olive Egger projects, they are also a wonderful breed on their own!
